Newsletter Lead
Location: Remote / Austin, TX (Hybrid)

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week
Position Summary

The Newsletter Lead is responsible for planning, writing, and publishing g3 Games’ recurring community newsletter. This role plays a key part in keeping our community informed, engaged, and excited about upcoming events, stories, and opportunities. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Newsletter Lead gathers content, crafts compelling updates, and ensures the newsletter reflects g3 Games’ mission, culture, and friendly, welcoming tone.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys writing, design, community storytelling, and helping people stay connected through meaningful communication.
Key Responsibilities

Newsletter Planning & Strategy
Develop and maintain a consistent newsletter schedule.
Plan content themes, features, and highlights in alignment with organizational goals.
Work with the Executive Director to establish long-term communication goals.
Content Creation
Write clear, engaging, community-focused copy for each issue.
Highlight upcoming events, program updates, volunteer opportunities, and partnership news.
Interview volunteers, players, or partners for occasional spotlights or stories.
Craft short, friendly, mission-aligned messages that represent g3 Games’ voice.
Content Gathering
Coordinate with Event Leads, Program Managers, and the Volunteer Manager to gather updates.
Collect photos, anecdotes, announcements, and community milestones.
Maintain a running content library and calendar.
Design & Formatting
Select visuals and create a clean, accessible layout consistent with brand guidelines.
Ensure mobile-friendly and visually engaging presentation.
Distribution & Engagement
Maintain and update the subscriber list.
Schedule and send newsletters on time.
Track open rates, click-through, and engagement trends.
Recommend improvements to enhance reach and impact.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate closely with other Communications Leads to align messaging.
Provide communication support for special campaigns or announcements.
Uphold g3 Games’ commitment to community-building belonging, and authenticity in all messaging.
Qualifications

Required
Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone and clarity.
Passion for community-building and communication.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Comfort with email newsletter platforms or willingness to learn.
Alignment with g3 Games’ mission and values.
Preferred
Experience in marketing, journalism, writing, communications, or content creation.
Familiarity with nonprofit communications or community newsletters.
Basic design or layout skills (Canva, etc.).
